Jonathan Shellard (biography)
Mr.Jonathan’s career in education has extended over three decades, initially reading Geography at Kingston University (London) followed by an MSc at Cranfield University (UK). While working as a senior college lecturer at South Essex College, he was elected a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society. He has since held senior leadership positions at international schools in both Qatar and Kuwait. In 2014 he was appointed as the founding principal of a new, all-through British international school in Doha, now recognized as ‘outstanding’ in all areas. He’s also an experienced academic auditor and supported the set-up a new British International school in the Congo, Central Africa.
Mr.Jonathan’s educational philosophy aligns with the school’s vision in providing an exceptional educational experience which excites, inspires and challenges pupils to be the best they can be. Student’s are equipped to flourish, to have agency and to be globally competent, no matter what life throws at them. Academic rigour is enshrined in the school’s DNA; whillst pastoral care underpins the IKC’s core values of developing emotional resilience, agility, empathy, courage and kindness.
